My name is Pamela Morgan, and I see food as I see flirtation: sexy, provocative, and a little mysterious. My desire is to teach you how to flirt your way into a full on passion for cooking and entertaining!
Being a working gal, I understand the limits we all face- small kitchens, long workdays, no energy. I’m here to change the way you see your kitchen: not as a foe, but as a creative place! I see the kitchen as a bonding space- sitting around a table creates a community. In a world filled with technology, I feel it’s so important to get off our phones and into the experience of slowing down and smelling the rosemary! In short, cooking matters.
I’ll help you see food as you’ve never seen it before by waking up your senses: food is sexy, ingredients are magical, and together they become sizzling and pleasurable!
I grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas where my mother loved to entertain. Growing up with a mother who loved to throw parties came in handy when I moved to New York to be a professional dancer and knew no one. Cooking wasn’t a strong skill of mine, but I started taking cooking classes and entertaining in my small studio apartment just to have company. Realizing that cooking and hosting small parties brought friends into my life helped me blossom into the chef I am today. Cooking became my secret weapon to confidence—something you definitely can’t get from audition rejections!
If I had to pick a career high it would be my cookbook, Pamela Morgan’s Flavors, published by Viking Penguin, which I still use to this day. But let’s back up a little . As my love of cooking blossomed I began my training at the New York Restaurant School, and I decided that French technique was very important, so I spent time in the kitchens of Alain Ducasse and Roger Verge in the south of France. Working at The Silver Palate in NYC was a highlight in my culinary education, inspiring me to start my own catering business, combining my love for both food and entertaining.
I started out small, as Flavors Catering, cooking and delivering food for Vogue photo shoots, and expanded when I opened my retail shop to have clients like Martha Stewart Living, HBO, Harry Winston, and Chanel. My company, Flavors Catering and Carry-Out became a neighborhood staple on West 18th St in the Flatiron district of NYC and was one of the very first to have an organic salad bar. This was in the 90’s, before organic was “cool”! Flavors Catering and Carry-Out grew to have 35 employees and was a 24/7 career. I loved every minute. To me, catering is about creating memories and delicious experiences for my clients, something that I’m grateful to do in both NYC and The Hamptons. . Eventually, I learned that I wanted more balance in my life to experience life’s pleasures and closed my storefront to explore the world, taste and travel. From this, my blog was born!
Reinvention and growth is at the core of who I am. And learning and sharing the latest food, lifestyle, and health trends with you is my passion. Through teleseminars, speaking engagements, private gatherings, and hosting events in my own space, I’m able to do just that.
