A Theme to Fall For!

Most everyone loves a great party, especially me! My recent trip to Merida, Mexico inspired me to create a fantastic Fall Fiesta for my friends at our Hamptons home, last weekend. It was such a brilliant evening that I wanted to share it with you all!

From Web Search to Reality

It’s easy to get overwhelmed with party planning, so I started out simply; by searching Amazon for Mexican décor. I found serapes, sombreros and paper flowers. Little did I know I’d wind up spending hours assembling those little flowers only to have something that wasn’t quite as chic as what I’d imagined.

Luckily, with the help of Flower Porn’s Betty-Baines Saum, who’d recently helped me with my beautiful Facebook Live flowers, we were able to find uses for all of them!

Setting the Table for The Food

After the décor, I did something I’ve never done before: I booked an outside caterer! I wanted to have a truly authentic Mexican experience and these guys make all their own tacos from scratch—I mean pressing and grilling the flour tortillas on the spot, roasting and carving the pork, and frying the tortilla chips with flair and flavor!

With their inspired dishes, I added my Flirting with Flavors touch by creating hors d’oeuvres to fit the theme, including tequila shrimp and white gazpacho.

I added to the fun by hiring a DJ and a Drummer from HB Productions who played Latin tunes and other favorites throughout the night. The music got everyone to their feet, dancing the night away!

A Perfect Way to Welcome Fall!

The colors of Mexico are so bright and lively that I wanted to be sure they were present everywhere. And Betty pulled it all together with her own cheerful, sunny disposition and her expertise in all things floral. She really helped me celebrate the season and the theme with dahlias, sunflowers, and succulents.

With the help of Jade Dressler, the two ladies created an Instagram wall bringing together the flowers and décor. You can see, it was a huge hit with the guests!

I told the guests to wear colorful clothes and as you can see, most of them were perfectly festive while others didn’t read the invite! Luckily we had enough color to go around!

Between the weather, a strong team of professionals, and excellent company, it wound up being the perfect night! Thanks to all who came out to enjoy the fiesta, and I hope that the rest of you can live vicariously through these photos!
